Q: Which degrees are eligible?
A: B.Eng, BSc(Eng), B.EngTech & Adv Dip(Eng)

Q: Can a group project be considered for nomination?
A: Yes, however the prize money will be divided equally between the group members.

Q: What are the criteria for nomination?
A: The nominated student should deliver the best final year project, as determined by the faculty.
The student must be registered for a B.Eng, BSc(Eng), B.EngTech & Adv Dip(Eng) degree, and completing the degree in the same year as the Mathews\IPGIP prize for which they are nominated.

Q: Are the projects being examined by IPGIP?
A: No, the university’s nomination is final.

Q: What documentation should accompany each university’s entry?
A: The following documents are required for an eligible entry:

  1. The official Mathews/IPGIP nomination form, signed by the dean.

  2. 50-word summary of the final year project.

  3. 50-word summary of the student’s future plans.​

 

Q: When will the winning students from each university receive the cash prize?
A: Half of the prize money will be awarded within a week of receiving the completed entry form from the dean’s office. The other half of the payment will only be processed upon receipt of a photo of the winner with their certificate.

Q: Can a department nominate a student?
A: No, the IPGIP board only accepts a single nomination via the dean’s office.

Q: When is the deadline for entry?
A: Strictly Sunday, 08 December 2025 at 12:00 am. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
