MATHEWS / IPGIP MERIT-BASED ENIGNEERING BURSARY FOR GIMMIE-MATRICULANTS

  1. Background

The merit-based Gimmie scholarships will be administered by the Integrated Post Graduate Industry Partnership (IPGIP), which was originally established to award postgraduate scholarships only (https://www.ipgip.co.za). Currently, 70 students receive IPGIP scholarships. The Gimmie scholarship will be the first undergraduate scholarship to be administered by IPGIP.

  2. Applications

    • The average mark for the final exam must be above 80%.

    • The applicant must have participated in at least one extracurricular Gimmie activity during their matric year.

    • The applicant must be studying engineering and have been accepted into NWU’s Faculty of Engineering.

    • The applicant with the highest final mark who meets all the above criteria will receive the scholarship.

  3. Value

R50,000 per year (adjusted annually for inflation). The tuition fees will be paid directly into the student’s NWU account.

  4. Rules

    • The scholarship is valid for the minimum duration of the engineering degree (currently four years). This means the student must be enrolled in all the required courses each year. The scholarship will be discontinued if any course is failed.

    • Only one new scholarship is awarded per year.

    • IPGIP’s decisions are final.
