
Prize details

There are eight Universities in South Africa producing B.Eng/BSc(Eng) engineers.

There are seven Universities of Technology in South Africa producing B.EngTech & Adv Dip(Eng) Engineers.

Each Engineering Faculty from the 15 Universities will select their student with the best final year project via the Dean’s office.

The administration of the prize will be done by IPGIP.
-
A cash prize of R10 000 will go to the best student project from each eligible university.

All 15 winners and their supervisors will receive official certificates of recognition.

Half of the prize money will only be released after IPGIP receives the completed nomination from the university.

The other half of the payment will only be processed upon receipt of a photo of the winner with their certificate.

Submissions for the 2025 Mathews/IPGIP Prize close on 08 December 2025.
