Prize details

  • There are eight Universities in South Africa producing B.Eng/BSc(Eng) engineers.

  • There are seven Universities of Technology in South Africa producing B.EngTech & Adv Dip(Eng) Engineers.

  • Each Engineering Faculty from the 15 Universities will select their student with the best final year project via the Dean’s office.

  • The administration of the prize will be done by IPGIP.

  • A cash prize of R10 000 will go to the best student project from each eligible university.

  • All 15 winners and their supervisors will receive official certificates of recognition.

  • Half of the prize money will only be released after IPGIP receives the completed nomination from the university.

  • The other half of the payment will only be processed upon receipt of a photo of the winner with their certificate.

Important Dates

Submissions for the 2025 Mathews/IPGIP Prize close on 08 December 2025.
