Purpose of IPGIP prize

• To honour EH Mathews (Snr)(EHM) who passed away on 20 June 2020 for whom academic achievement was of utmost importance,

• to motivate engineering students to achieve excellence, and

• to bring academia and industry closer together.

Background

• EHM left behind a family of engineers. Six sons and grandsons are engineers.

• The objective of this initiative is to stimulate Industry/Academia interaction in Engineering.

• It will be done via the Integrated Post Graduate Industry Partnership (IPGIP).

• Postgraduate interest is often initiated during a final year project.

• The aim of the final year Mathews/IPGIP prize is to encourage high quality research at undergraduate level.
