The wish of Edward Henry Mathews (Snr) was to stimulate partnerships between industry and academia.

​

His son and founder of IPGIP, Prof. E.H. Mathews (Jnr), also stresses the need for partnerships between different Universities and different disciplines.

​

Therefore, IPGIP, with funding from their industrial partners, sponsors over 120 bursaries to the engineering faculties of NWU, UP and TUT, as well as the Computer Sciences department at UP, and UNISA. There is also collaboration with the School of Medicine at UP.

 

The vision of IPGIP is to expand these partnerships to other Universities.
